Use a tag based on your personal preferences. To prevent the tip from drying out, cover the marker when not in use. If the tip is dry, dip it lightly in alcohol to moisten it. Coverage will be better by sanding with 1000 grit sandpaper or by spraying the piece with a primer. After painting, the topcoat will effectively protect the painted surface.
